Homemade FUDGY Brownies




Light and crisp outside, super gooey and rich chocolate on the insude. Eating just one is tough. Awesome! – Viviana

Basically, when you hear brownie you think a chocolate square or rectangular baked sweet. Brownies can be cakey, fudgy or something in between. If you want to get fancy you can add nuts, frosting, cream cheese, chocolate chips, or other ingredients, but for this recipe we keep it simple. This brownie is a fudgy recipe with a delicate glossy "skin" on the upper crust. After you try this brownie, you won't go back to the boxed ones ever again.


Fun Fact: The brownie was created at The Palmer House hotel in Chicago, United States at the end of the 19th century and it's been popular ever since.


Homemade FUDGY Brownies


Ingredients


- 80g cacao powder (3/4 cup)

- 80g all purpose flour (1/2 cup)

- 3g salt (1/2 tsp)

- 2g instant espresso ( 1 tsp)

- 250g white granulated sugar ( 1 and 1/4 cup)

- 150g unsalted butter melted

- 2 room temperature eggs

- 1 tbs vanilla extract

- 110g chopped chocolate bar of 82% chocolate


Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F or 175C

  2. Start by whisking the dry ingredients and mix cacao powder, all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and instant espresso

  3. Melt unsalted butter

  4. In a larger bowl mix granulated sugar and the melted unsalted butter

  5. Whisk and add 1 large room temperature egg at a time to the sugar and butter mixture

  6. Stir in 15 ml of vanilla extract and chopped chocolate

  7. Little by little add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients

  8. Lightly butter a 25x18cm (10x7in) baking dish and line the dish with parchment paper

  9. Pour the batter into the dish and bake on the center rack 175C or 350F for 40 minutes

  10. Remove it from the dish so it stops baking and let cool for at least a couple hours, but preferably overnight

  11. It’s time to eat

It’s solid on the outside, but warm and fudgy on the inside. The big pieces of dark chocolate are just exciting to the eyes. Stack them unevenly high and shamelessly with no regard for your blood pressure sprinkle them with large flaky sea salt. The chocolate and salt combination will make your head spin.
